about the band

Gay Country, Ukulele Rock, and on-stage theatrics—Tonight’s Sunshine is made to sink your teeth into. Based in Tucson, Arizona, they fall under the umbrella of pop-rock but pull influences from every genre. Rock, alternative, pop with Latin influences, and beyond. They take the traditionally happy and mellow ukulele sound and give it a darker edge. Mixed with intricate, technical drum beats, dynamic rock guitar, and powerhouse vocals, Tonight’s Sunshine’s sound is unlike any other.
Anastasia AKA Firekid
Lead Vocals, Electric Ukulele
Anastasia was born in Nogales, Arizona and moved to Tucson in 2016 to attend the University of Arizona. They studied Percussion Performance at the UofA's Fred Fox School of Music, auditioning into the Arizona Symphony as one of only three freshmen at the time. Once the band was formed in 2018, they switched to studying for a Spanish major with a minor in Gender and Women's Studies to focus on their original music. They graduated in 2021, and are currently sponsored by Enya Music for their standout ukulele playing.
Cougar
Drums
Cougar is currently enrolled at the University of Arizona for a Bachelor's in Software Engineering. He was heavily involved in music during his childhood, having played in bands since he was 9. Since his dad was active in the philanthropy scene of Tucson, he was always helping him produce events for non-profits or performing at them. By the time he was 16, he had volunteered at over 60 events throughout the southwest. This experience earned him the Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy award given by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2018.
